Description

We Capured at Al Sadeem Observatory in UAE a stunning image of the galaxy M106 using the Stellina Telescope by Vaonis! This intermediate spiral galaxy is located in the constellation Canes Venatici and is about 22 to 25 million light-years away from Earth. M106 contains an active nucleus classified as a Type 2 Seyfert, and the water masers in M106 enabled the first case of a direct measurement of the distance to a galaxy, providing an independent anchor for the cosmic distance ladder. It's amazing to think about the vastness of our universe and the incredible technology that allows us to explore it!

🌟 Speaking of constellations, did you know that the Big Dipper has a special place in Arabic star mythology? In Arabic, the Big Dipper is known as "Alkaid," which means "the leader." According to legend, the seven stars of the Big Dipper were once a group of travellers who were pursued by an evil demon. They prayed to God for help, and he turned them into stars to protect them from the demon's wrath. The two stars at the end of the Big Dipper's handle are called "the pointers" because they point towards the North Star, which was used by travellers to navigate the desert at night. It's amazing how stories and legends can be passed down through generations and still hold significance today!
